Dear COST community,
We are delighted to welcome you to a three-day Technology Transfer school, an event that will give you an overview of the tools to bridge the gap between scientific discoveries and market applications.
The program and list of mentors are below:
- Brief overview of Extracellular RNA, Understand the challenges and opportunities in thefield. Mentors: Amy Buck (Edinburgh University, COST Chair), Eyal Maori (CambridgeUniversity, founder of Tropic).
- Technology Transfer Essentials: Learn the fundamentals of transitioning from lab researchto market applications. Mentors: Jorge Figueira (University of Coimbra), Daniel Mogefors(Medical technology innovation consultancy, Sweden), Eyal Maori.
- Legal Considerations: Gain insights into intellectual property protection and regulatorylandscapes. Mentors: Simona Russo (ICGEB TT Office- Knowledge Transfer Manager, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), Anna Sangiorgi (University of Palermo).
- Funding Strategies: Explore avenues for financial support to bring your research to market. Mentor: Ivana Kostic (TT consultant on the SAIGE project and Co-founder of Health Tech Lab, Belgrade).
- How to pitch: Understand the key components of a successful pitch. Mentor: Jorge Pimenta (Innovation Director at Instituto Pedro Nunes, Coimbra).
- Engage in hands-on activities to apply technology transfer concepts.

Who can apply?
Trainees shall be engaged in an official research program as a PhD Student or postdoctoral fellow or can be employed by, or affiliated to, an institution, organization or legal entity which has within its remit a clear association with performing research. Trainees eligible for reimbursement:

You can apply by sending by e-mail to exRNA-PATH@ed.ac.uk and stefania.raimondo@unipa.it your CV( detailing your academic background, research experience, and relevant skills) and a motivation Letter (max 500 words) (i) expressing your motivation for attending the school; (ii) your current involvement in extracellular RNA research; (iii) your expectations from the school.
Application Deadline:
The deadline for submitting your application is 10-03-2024.
Selection Process and Notification of Acceptance:
All applications will be reviewed by the organizing committee; 15 candidates will be selected based on the strength of their application documents. Successful applicants will be notified via email by the end of March 2024.
