Public Engagement in RNA workshop – Tuesday 28th May 2024
exRNA-PATH co-organised a workshop on Public Engagement in RNA research at the annual RNA society meeting in Edinburgh on May 28, 2024. The workshop brought together over 80 researchers who have participated in various types of public outreach to share their approaches, strategies, and brainstorm.
The workshop involved an inspirational talk from Prof. Adrian Krainer on his experience with patients and families around development of the RNA drug to treat Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It also involved a presentation from Thomas Crampton & Rob Blackie around current public misconceptions related to RNA science.
Further workshops on this topic will now be planned at annual RNA society meetings, championed by the RNA society education committee.
