BIOINFORMATICS WORKSHOP ON EXTRACELLULAR RNA
19-21 MAY 2025 – EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
VENUE -Edinburgh Futures Institute, University of Edinburgh.
Aimed at: Students or postdocs who would like to learn how to analyse and interpret extracellular RNA sequencing data.
Requirements:
- You already have, or will soon be getting extracellular RNA sequencing data.
- No prior bioinformatics experience is necessary, but if you do have some experience that is fine too.
- You can bring a laptop to the workshop. Linux, Windows or Mac is fine: detailed instructions on what you will need to install will be provided.
- You are interested in learning how to perform personalised analysis of your data, instead of using web-based or “black-box” solutions.
What we will teach you:
- Basics of the Linux command line, which will give you the possibility of using larger computers and clusters to efficiently analyse large amounts of sequencing data.
- Bioinformatics tools for sequencing QC, alignment, annotation, etc.
- How to use R and Bioconductor for exploring sequencing and genome information, quantifying expression, etc.
- How to make your analyses reusable and reproducible.
- Special considerations for extracellular RNA: low-input / high-contamination scenarios, normalisation strategies, fractional samples (by precipitation, bound to a protein, contained within EVs, etc).
Deadline for applications: 1st February 2025
